Gujarati businessman look north-east for new opportunities | Surat News – Times of India

SURAT: Gujarati businessmen are known for their enterprising nature. Carrying forward the legacy, businessmen from south gujarat are now looking to explore new opportunities in the north-eastern state of Tripura.
A delegation of businessmen of Surat from different sectors, headed by president of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dinesh Navadiya, recently visited Tripura to explore new business opportunities. The delegation visited tea estates, mega food parks, industrial estate, bamboo processing and furniture making units, rubber processing units and agarwood plantations.
“The state has a lot of potential, but it is hardly known outside. There are many industries in which businessmen from south Gujarat can invest and the state government has also promised benefits like subsidies, GST reimbursements among others,” said Navadiya.
The other members of the delegation said that the products of Tripura — be it tea, bamboo furniture, fruits like pineapple, litchi and processed food — are of much better quality and cost much less as compared to goods from other states. It also has a lot of potential to be developed as a tourism hub, delegation members said.
“If any businessperson from Surat or from south Gujarat is interested then they can contact SGCCI and we can help them with further process,” Navadiya said. Some of the delegation members representing the textile and food industry have already begun researching the market potential.
