America will donate corona vaccine to low-income countries globally, will buy 500 million doses of Pfizer

Washington: The US will buy 500 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine through the global Covax alliance to donate the corona vaccine to 92 low-income countries and the African Union next year. A person with knowledge of the matter has given this information.

Will donate 20 crore doses this year

The person said that President Joe Biden will announce this on Thursday in a speech before the start of the Group Seven summit. 200 million doses of the vaccine will be donated this year while the remaining doses will be donated during the first six months of 2022.

Biden commits to donate vaccine

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters on Wednesday that Biden is committed to sharing the vaccine because it is in America’s public health and strategic interest. The US has faced pressure to outline a global plan for vaccine sharing. In total, the White House has announced to share 80 million doses worldwide by the end of June, most of which will be given through Covax.

At present, the number of corona infected worldwide has crossed 17 crore 49 lakhs. In which the maximum number of cases have been seen in America. So far more than 3 crore 42 lakh 48 thousand cases have been reported here. Out of which more than 6 lakh 13 thousand people have died due to corona virus infection.
